MLK Reading

“During the 1960’s, Martin Luther King was the most powerful moral authority in the country. As he enlarged his nonviolent activism against racial segregation in order to articulate the seamless relationship between militarism, poverty, and racism, to campaign for an end to the Vietnam War, and to design a Poor People’s campaign, he threatened the status quo and was marked for assassination. In this play we see MLK in his fullness as a universal prophet and champion in the perennial struggle for peace, justice, and human rights.”

The Amherst Area NAACP and Leverett (Mass.) Peace Commission offer a reading of Project Unspeakable, this time with a focus on MLK, on January 17 at the Amherst Regional Middle School. 7pm, $10 donation.
